Palestinian Health Sector Reform and Development Project

 

"The Flagship Project"

Who: Loma Linda University is a subcontractor under Chemonics International Incorporated.

Objective: To support the Palestinian Ministry of Health and other key non-governmental health providers to develop a sustainable and efficient health system to improve the quality of life for the Palestinian people.

Project Duration: 5 years (Started October of 2008)

Funding: United States Agency for International Development (USAID)

Loma Linda University's Role is to assist with:

  • Building the capacity of the Palestine Ministry of Health to improve health care
  • Operationalizing the Palestinian Medical Complex (PMC)
  • Providing short-term technical assistance in key areas
    • Neonatology
    • Emergency Medicine
    • Pediatric ICU
    • Hospital Administration
    • Nursing Administration
    • Infection Control
    • Waste Management
    • Biomedical Engineering
    • Nephrology

The Palestinian Medical Complex will consist of 5 hospitals:

    1. Bahrain Pediatric Hospital
    2. Kuwaiti Surgical Hospital
    3. Ramallah General Hospital
    4. Sheikh Zayed Emergency Hospital
    5. Hippocrates Blood Bank
